UI & UX DESIGN

ZIVE

The Project

FUNCTION – Lead Designer UI, Co-conception UX

CLIENT – SFR

TIMING – 5 months – Launched in November 2015

TYPE – Desktop, Digital Branding

TOOLS – Photoshop, Sketch, Framer, Illustrator, Invision

On November 17, 2015, SFR launches a new SVOD service called Zive.
It offers a unique catalogue of HD and 4K/UHD TV content, centred around 4 themes : Youth, Series, Cinema and a Fun section.
Content from major international studios and publishers (Disney, Disney-Pixar, ABC Studios, Warner Bros, Europa, Miramax, Sony Pictures Television, France Télévisions).
THE PROCESS

Freestyle design without graphic guidelines

The basic graphic guidelines (colors, logo, typography) are revealed at the last moment, three weeks before the launch of the site.
To build the digital universe of this new brand, we must therefore make the models “blind”, with fictitious codes and a graphic trend (two major colors and a short brand name).

I worked in pairs with a UX Designer.

Numerous design and technical workshops were held with the many stakeholders involved in this project (Brand, TV Content Teams, Technical Teams, Development Teams, Marketing).

The design is created and validated and transmitted in parallel to the TV teams who adapt it for the Box TV interface, as well as to the mobile teams to develop the iOS & Android application.
I also guarantee graphic consistency across all media.

ZIVE

IN DETAIL

A modern and complete project

Here is an overview of the different modules that have been realized :

  • An experiential and responsive mini prospect site presenting the content offer (one page, parallax, page by page scrolling). A prototype under Framer was made to conceptualize and sell the system.
  • The main site presenting the content catalogue, only in desktop version, with filtering, search engine, film sheet.
  • Transversal screens linked to client authentication (login charts, informative layers), only in desktop version.

For the first phase of graphic and ergonomic benchmark, we targeted the major players in VOD and streaming (Netflix, TV channels…).

Graphically, I opted for a very flat and streamlined interface design, in order to leave the spotlight on the visuals and backgrounds related to the films.

Careful work was also carried out with the integrators to refine the interaction timings precisely.

RESULT

A mixed result

It was interesting to work on a project with multiple stakeholders and technical parameters. But not at rest, the validation phases are quite tedious and the modifications numerous.

Strategic choices from the top management as well as technical development concerns have also forced us to make certain graphic choices that were not assumed.

Blind design until a few weeks before the launch also adds stress, provided that our models fit well with the final charter, which was fortunately the case!

So I have mixed feelings, even if the feedback is positive after the launch.
